On Tuesday, July 10, 2018, at 8:27 p.m., Lake Elsinore Police Officers and CalFire responded to a report of a head-on traffic collision on Lake Street east of Temescal Canyon, Lake Elsinore.
Both drivers were transported to a local area hospital, were one of them, a 78 year-old Lake Elsinore man, succumbed to his injuries.
The Traffic Reconstruction Team of the Lake Elsinore Police Department is conducting a full investigation to determine the cause of the collision. Alcohol is not suspected to be a contributing factor to this collision.
Both directions of Lake Street between Temescal Canyon and Nichols were closed for about four hours during the initial on-scene investigation.
