Lake Elsinore: Grand Prix Promotion Set for Friday, Aug. 18th at the Diamond

The Event will also Feature a Fundraiser for Gabriella Jimenez a daughter of a Storm Employee

The historic Lake Elsinore Grand Prix is coming back to town in November and the supporters are revving up interest with a promotion this Friday, Aug. 18th at the Storm’s minor-league baseball game at the Diamond.

The first 500 fans at the Game will receive a Lake Elsinore Grand Prix T-shirt. The video of “On Any Sunday” will be shown in the stadium club. Interested racers for the November Event will receive a $15 discount if they sign up at the game,

The Elsinore Grand Prix annual race I will be held in mid-November. The popularity of the event hit its apex in the late 1960s and early 1970s, drawing the likes of dirt-bike greats such as Malcolm Smith and Steve McQueen… to name a few. In 1971, the documentary movie On Any Sunday by Bruce Brown included scenes from the grand prix.

The Storm is also holding a fundraiser for Gabriella Jimenez on Friday night.. Jimenez, a daughter of one of the Storm employees was seriously injured in a cycling accident. The Storm is holding a special a pre-game bike ride starting at 5:30 p.m. Funds raised at the bike ride and a portion of ticket sales will go toward the family’s medical expenses.

The Storm will be hosting the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes for the final time at the Diamond this year.
