Lake Elsinore: Holy Fire Now 36% Contained as Authorities Lift Evacuation Orders in Several Neighborhoods

Full Containment of the Fire now Estimated on Friday August 17th

Major progress against the fire threatening homes in Southern California was made Saturday evening. Containment has quadrupled in the past two days.

As of early Sunday morning containment is estimated at 36%, up from 29% on Saturday night. The flames have burnt 22,158 acres since Monday according to the U.S. Forest Service.

Authorities have lifted evacuation orders in neighborhoods in Lake Elsinore. Over 1,500 firefighters, 10 helicopters and seven fixed-wing aircraft are currently battling the fire.

At least 12 structures have been destroyed and five Firefighters have been injured. About 11,120 people are still under mandatory evacuation.
