Lake Elsinore: Man Pulls a Knife on Police during a Violation of a Domestic Violence Restraining Order Call


On Friday, June 22, 2018, about 9:00 am, Lake Elsinore Police Officer’s responded to the 300 Block of Main Street, in the city of Lake Elsinore to make an arrest of Richard Belville, 62 years old from Lake Elsinore for violation of a Domestic Violence Restraining Order that was investigated the day before, on June 21, 2018.

Officers contacted Richard Belville at the front door and he tried to shut the door. Richard then reached for a large hunting style knife and moved towards the officers in a threatening manner. An officer immediately reacted by deploying a TASER, which was effective in stopping Richard and allowed the officers to take him into custody without any significant injuries or further escalation. No officers or other persons were injured during this incident.

Belville was subsequently booked into Cois Byrd Detention Center for a violation of a Domestic Violence Restraining order and Assault with a Deadly Weapon on a Police Officer.
