Lake Elsinore: Police Pursuit Ends with the Arrest of a Car Thief Thursday Night

On Thursday June 21, 2018, at approximately 6:15 pm, deputies from the Lake Elsinore station responded to the area of Grand Avenue and Sangston Drive, Lakeland Village, for a report of a vehicle theft that had just occurred.

Deputies located the stolen Mercedes sedan travelling south on Grand Avenue at Ontario Way and attempted to stop the vehicle. The Mercedes failed to yield to the deputies and a vehicle pursuit ensued.

The pursuit lasted for several minutes as it travelled into the city of Wildomar circling continuously through the Sedco Hills area. A spike strip vehicle disabling device was successfully used to disable the tires on the Mercedes. The driver of the vehicle continued to drive the Mercedes until he became involved in a minor collision with another vehicle a short time later.

The suspect, later identified as Jose Orlando Solis, 25 years old, a resident of Lake Elsinore, was taken into custody without incident. Solis had an active felony warrant for charges related to auto theft and was also booked for multiple felony charges stemming from the pursuit at the Cois Byrd Detention Center. There were no injuries to the other vehicle occupants, bystanders or deputies resulting from the pursuit.
