Lake Elsinore: Sheriffs Deputies Called to Break Up a Fight at Temescal Canyon High School-Three Arrested

The Three were Charged with Felony Battery, Conspiracy to Commit a Crime and Making Criminal Threats

On 11/30/17, at approximately 2:45 PM, deputies from the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station were dispatched to Temescal Canyon High School, to assist a School Resource Officer who was trying to break up a fight. Two adult males, who are not students at the school, assaulted two juvenile students as they left the school campus.

Deputies used pepper spray in an attempt to stop the assault. The pepper spray was ineffective and after additional deputies arrived, the involved subjects were separated. The two juvenile student victims sustained minor injuries as a result of the altercation and were treated at the scene by medical personnel and released to their parents.

The assault occurred over an incident that happened earlier in the day on the school campus between one of the victims and another student.

The two adult male suspects were placed under arrest for felony battery and conspiracy to commit a crime. A third adult male, who is not a student, was also arrested for making criminal threats to the juvenile victims during the incident.

The suspects were identified as Jaime Arias, 21, Adrian Arias, 19 and Benigno Arias, 48; all are residents of Lake Elsinore. All three were later booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta.

The Lake Elsinore Unified School District is aware of the incident and is cooperating with Sheriff’s personnel. At this time, there is no hazard to students, school staff, or the public.

Anyone with additional information is urged to call Riverside County Sheriff’s dispatch at (951) 776-1099, or the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station at (951) 245-3300.
