Lake Elsinore: West Covina Man Arrested For Boating DUI Sunday

On Sunday, April 14, 2019, about 4:45 p.m., deputies from the Lake Elsinore Police Department observed a yellow flat bottom boat traveling against the traffic pattern in violation of Lake Elsinore Municipal Code 9.96.160.

The boat was also following the buoy line from the area of Elsinore West Marina heading towards Launch Pointe. The vessel entered the “No Wake” zone of the Launch Pointe Harbor at am estimated 25 MPH and turned towards the docks.

This was in violation of 9.96.140 Lake Elsinore Municipal Code.

Deputies conducted a enforcement stop on the vessel. The deputies immediately noticed a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the driver of the vessel and objective symptoms of being under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. Based on the deputies’ observations, they conducted Field Sobriety Tests which the driver did not pass.

The driver Damon Christian Forrest, 28 years of age, and a resident of West Covina was subsequently arrested and transported to the Cois Byrd Detention Center for Boating while under the influence.
