Lake Elsinore: Wildomar Man Arrested For DUI Hit & Run


On Friday, June 2, 2017, about 5:38 P.M., officers from the Lake Elsinore Police Department responded to a reported injury traffic collision near the intersection of Mission Trail and Lemon Street.

Witnesses reported a 2002 Ford truck speeding and swerving between lanes on Mission Trail, north of Lemon Street, prior to colliding into the rear of a 2003 Chevy truck. The Ford truck then collided into the rear of a 2005 Chrysler passenger van. The driver of the Ford truck fled the scene on foot a short distance into a field. The first officer arrived on scene located the Ford truck driver, and with the assistance of witnesses, detained him for further investigation. Additional officers arrived at the scene of the collision and found the driver and three juvenile passengers in the Chrysler van suffering from minor injuries. The driver and passengers were transported to a local hospital by ambulance for medical treatment and later released. The driver of the Chevy truck was uninjured.

It was determined the driver of the Ford truck, Diego Segovia, 41 years old, and a resident of Wildomar, was driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. Segovia was uninjured in the collision and was arrested for driving under the influence, hit and run collision causing injury and was later booked into jail.
