On Wednesday, 01/10/18, at 06:45 PM, Officers from the Menifee Police Department responded to a report of a head-on traffic collision on Menifee Rd. in the city of Menifee.
A Toyota Corolla and a Toyota Camry both sustained major damage. One of the drivers, 57-year-old Homeland resident Nicholas Eddy, is suspected of driving while under the influence. Eddy sustained major injuries as a result of the collision.
As Menifee traffic investigators and volunteers worked the collision scene, a third driver of a Buick, failed to obey the road closure and collided with a volunteer vehicle and a marked Menifee patrol vehicle with its emergency lights flashing.
Two Menifee volunteers received minor, non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to a local hospital. The driver of the Buick, 45-year-old Sun City resident Todd Stewart, was evaluated for DUI and determined not to be impaired.
The Perris Sheriff’s Station Traffic Reconstruction Unit responded to the location and assumed the investigation. Menifee Rd. was temporarily closed in both directions and re-opened at midnight.
Both investigations are on-going. Anyone with information on these investigations are encouraged to call Deputies Grimm or Kiebach at the Perris Sheriff’s Station, (951) 210-1000.
