Moreno Valley: Pair Arrested for the December 24 Murder in Front of the “Rio Rancho Supermall”


On Friday, December 28th investigators with the Central Homicide Unit, the Major Crimes Unit and the Moreno Valley Special Enforcement Team served a search warrant in the 900 block of E. Williams Street in Banning.

Marius Metoyer and Carl Johnson, both age 18 and residents of Moreno Valley, were arrested without incident in reference to an ongoing homicide investigation.

Several firearms were seized and additional evidence was located within the residence. Both suspects were arrested for First Degree Murder, Gang Enhancement Allegations and use of a firearm.

Marius Metoyer and Carl Johnson were later booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center for the listed charges.

The murder occurred on Monday, December 24th 2018, at about 5:23 pm. Officers assigned to the Moreno Valley Police Department were dispatched to a “shots fired call” in front of the “Rio Rancho Supermall” located 25211 Perris Blvd., in the city of Moreno Valley. Officers arrived on scene within minutes and found evidence of a shooting. A few minutes later, officers were informed that two victims had been transported to a local area hospital suffering from gunshot wounds and one of the victims had died.
