Murrieta: 22 Year Old Arrested for Stabbing His Father to Death Saturday Afternoon


On Saturday, June 9th at approximately 2:56 pm, the Murrieta Police Department received a call from a residence at the 39000 block of Sunrose Drive regarding a medical aid.

Paramedics and Murrieta Police Officers arrived at the residence and located an adult male in his 50’s with significant injuries consistent with blunt force trauma and stab wounds. The man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Subsequent investigation resulted in the arrest an adult male, later identified as the victim’s son, Nicolas Hunt-Tanner. Hunt-Tanner was booked at the Cois Byrd Detention center for the crime listed below.

The investigation is on-going, however there are no outstanding suspects and the detectives have recovered the weapons involved in the crime. The identity of the victim is pending notification of next of kin and will be released by the Riverside County Coroner’s Office.
