Murrieta: Brush Fire by Interstate 215 Slows Traffic & Injures One Firefighter


UPDATE 8-20-18 8am: The Fire is 100 % Contained

A fire erupted near Interstate 215 and Scott Road Sunday afternoon. The blaze slowed traffic in both directions on the 215 freeway. The fire was reported at 3:55 pm and firefighters have made good progress on the fire.

The current size of the fire is estimated at 10 acres. All aircraft have been released and one firefighter was transported by ground ambulance to an area hospital. He was treated for a non-life threatening injury. No other injuries have been reported.

By 7 pm, the fire was 30 percent contained. There were 90 firefighters and 13 engines battling the blaze.
