Murrieta: DUI Checkpoint Nets Eight Arrests on Saturday Night

The Murrieta Police Department Traffic Unit conducted a DUI/Drivers License checkpoint on February 10, 2018, on Margarita Rd. and Torrey Pines Rd. between the hours of 7:00 p.m. and 1:00 a.m.

Checkpoints are placed in locations that have the greatest opportunity for achieving drunk and drugged driving deterrence and provide the greatest safety for officers and the public.

Saturday’s checkpoint was to promote public safety, deter potentially impaired drivers and to educate the public of the dangers associated with impaired driving. The following list is the result of the checkpoint:

820 Vehicles Screened

2 DUI-Drug impaired suspects arrested

1 Arrested for Warrants

5 Drivers cited/arrested for operating a vehicle unlicensed or while suspended/revoked

The Murrieta Police Department will be conducting another DUI/Driver’s License Checkpoint or DUI Saturation Patrols on future dates in our ongoing commitment to lower deaths and injuries upon our streets and highways.

The checkpoint was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, reminding everyone to ‘Report Drunk Driver – Call 9-1-1’.
