Murrieta: Traffic Stop Leads to Narcotics and Weapons Arrest

On 12/2/17 at approximately 3:24 a.m. a Murrieta Police Officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Whitewood Road near Avenida Acacias.

The officer contacted the driver of the vehicle, identified as Anthony Del Calzo. The officer recognized Mr. Del Calzo from a previous arrest in March 2017 in which Mr. Del Calzo was arrested with loaded firearms and a significant amount of narcotics.

During this contact, Mr. Del Calzo admitted to having a firearm inside the vehicle. Officers entered the vehicle to retrieve the firearm. Inside the vehicle, officers discovered a loaded semi-automatic handgun hidden in a Christmas stocking that was located within reach of the driver seat of the vehicle.

Also inside the vehicle, next to the firearm, officer’s located methamphetamine, cocaine and prescription narcotics, all packaged for individual sale. Mr. Del Calzo was placed under arrest at that time.

Based on the amount of narcotics located in Mr. Del Calzo’s possession and the fact that he was currently out on bail for his previous arrest for narcotics and weapons, detectives responded to assist with the investigation.

Detectives drafted a search warrant for Mr. Del Calzo’s Murrieta residence. The search warrant yielded additional methamphetamine, cocaine, prescription narcotics, narcotics paraphernalia, loaded fire arms, ammunition, firearm magazines and a large amount of US currency. Mr. Del Calzo was booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center.
