Murrieta Valley Edges Past Valencia to Advance to the CIF SS 2015 Division 2 Tennis Championship Game

The Nighthawks Will Face Arcadia in the Championship Match Friday

Facing elimination from the CIF Southern Section 2015 Division 2 Tennis Championships, the Nighthawks reached deep down as a team and pulled out one the biggest victories in recent Murrieta Valley Tennis history.

The Nighthawks played Valencia, the team that beat them in last year’s CIF SS Division 2 Championship game. Both teams played extremely well and battled to a final score of 9-9 . CIF  regulations state that in the case of a tie, the team with the most game victories wins the match.

Murrieta Valley won 3 more games in the semifinal match and edged Valencia 79-76 to eliminate the Vikings from the playoffs. The Nighthawks will advance to the Championship Game on Friday at the Claremont Club. The Nighthawks will face undefeated Arcadia who cruised to a 18-0 victory over Sage Hill.

“Leading the way, Jovana swept in singles and Alana and Kelsey swept in doubles to give us a chance to win” said Murrieta Valley Coach Trent Warren. “The other girls put together 3 more sets and every girl contributed games that eventually counted toward the win. It was inspired tennis and a team effort.”
