Norco: Armed Robbery Suspect that Vitimized a Female Patron in May Arrested


On Wednesday, May 9, 2018, about 9:17 a.m., deputies from the Norco Sheriff’s Office responded to the 2300 block of Hamner Avenue, in the city of Norco, in reference to an armed robbery that had just occurred.

The subsequent investigation revealed an unknown gunman had robbed a female victim in the parking lot area of the businesses. After committing the robbery, the suspect fled the location in a vehicle.

This case was assumed by the Norco Sheriff’s Office Special Enforcement Team, who spent several months conducting follow-up investigation and developing leads. Investigative assistance was provided to the Norco Sheriff’s Office by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Special Investigations Bureau, the Eastvale and Jurupa Valley Station Special Enforcement Teams, the Jurupa Valley Station Investigations Bureau, the Gang Task Force, Corona Police Department, and the California Department of Corrections Parole Operations.

On Friday, January 4, 2019, simultaneous search warrants were served at two residences in the city of Eastvale, leading to the recovery of evidence associated with this case.

Additionally, the suspect, later identified as Rene Simon Breceda, age 42, a resident of Eastvale, was arrested without incident in the city of Ontario. Breceda was transported and booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center for robbery.
