12189805_1637240363197712_6061955776570780275_nPangaea, located on that hard to get to corner of Jefferson and Winchester is where you belong. A lot of you might remember it as the Old Greek Place. The new owners took over 2 years ago and have brought in new menus featuring mouth watering home style recipes. You need to put this place on your “Bucket List”.

Family owned and operated, Bill is the Chef and daughter Kimberly and son Chris work the front of the house with their mom. When you enter the place you literally feel as though you walked into their home as a guest for dinner.

12195769_1637239759864439_2070682403916757690_nThere were over 14 appetizers to choose from and we ordered the Tzatziki and Sautéed Mushrooms. The Tzatziki plate came served the same way it would have been in any place in Greece. Fresh Greek Yogurt, Olive Oil, Garlic, Dried Mint and Chopped Cucumber mixed into the traditional Greek dip with Kefir Cheese, grated cucumbers and fresh dill. This was served with warm pita bread, simply incredible.

12189651_1637239846531097_4730118120156695685_nThe Chef sautéed fresh mushrooms in garlic, olive oil and parsley for the next dish. It came on a bed of lettuce like a warm salad. Simple but amazing, it was one of Cathryn’s favorite dishes.

There are so many healthy, fresh vegetarian selections on the menu. We had the vegetarian Olympian plate. It came with spanakopita, falafel, stuffed grape leaves, Greek rice, salad and pita. My vegetarian daughter was in Greek Heaven. “The food was phenomenal” she kept repeating all evening.

1610984_1637240033197745_4026302849998050679_nThe Chicken Souvlaki plate was unbelievable. The chicken was tender, flavorful and cooked to perfection. The portion sizes were huge and it was served over rice with a Greek salad and pita bread.

There are no adjectives to describe the Jerusalem Chicken. It is gently cooked in a cream and white wine sauce with mushrooms that was exquisite. The dish is full of flavors that are bold without being overpowering. It’s served with pasta on the side.12189738_1637239979864417_3165545304467941049_n

The Gyro plate came with a generous serving of their specially seasoned blend of beef and lamb. It was broiled to mouth watering perfection on the rotisserie and served over rice with pita bread Greek salad and tzatziki sauce.

We tried their Mousaka and Pasticio at the Temecula Greek Festival earlier this year. It was the best we have ever sampled. In the restaurant, it’s simply pure joy and satisfaction.

Pangaea has a full bar, an extensive wine list with offerings from many local and Greek Wineries. My suggestion: Go Greek.

The Desserts are Amazing

There is so much to choose from here, from Pastas, Sandwiches, Salads, Steaks and Seafood. The Lamb Chops are rumored to be the best in the Inland Empire.
