Perris: Armed Man Ignoring Police Officer’s Commands Shot During a Family Disturbance

On Friday, April 13, 2018, about 9:20 PM, officers from the Perris Police Department responded to the report of a family disturbance in the 1100 block of Camino Del Sol.

The officers arrived at the location and observed a male suspect holding a firearm. Officers gave verbal commands and instructed the male to drop the firearm. The suspect ignored the officer’s commands and pointed the firearm towards the officers, resulting in an officer involved shooting.

After the officer involved shooting occurred, the suspect remained uncooperative with officer’s commands. A K-9 unit was deployed, and the suspect was taken into custody.

The suspect sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital. No officers or citizens were injured as a result of this incident. The suspect’s name will not be released at this time, pending the ongoing investigation.

The officers involved in the shooting were placed on administrative leave per department policy. The involved officers’ names will not be released at this time.

Investigators from the Riverside County Sheriff Department’s Central Homicide Unit responded and assumed the investigation. This is an active investigation and no additional details are available at this time.
