On Friday, July 13, 2018, at 5:45 a.m., officers from the Perris Police Department responded to the area of Perris Blvd. and Ramona Expressway, regarding a vehicle that had struck a bicyclist.
Officers arrived on scene within minutes, along with personnel from Cal Fire, and found the subject lying in the roadway. Life saving measures were begun and the subject was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died.
At this time, alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the collision. Several lanes at the intersection were shut down for several hours during the investigation.
The preliminary investigation revealed a vehicle was driving northbound on Perris Blvd. and struck the victim as he rode his bicycle across the northbound lanes. The victim’s name will not be released at this time, pending notification to next of kin by the Riverside County Coroner’s Office.
