Perris: Traffic Stop Leads to Guns & Drug Sales Arrest

On Wednesday, August 9, 2017, officers from the Perris Police Special Enforcement Team (SET) observed a silver Mercedes SUV commit a vehicle code infraction near the intersection of Orange Avenue and Murrieta Road in the city of Perris. Officers conducted a traffic enforcement stop and contacted the occupants, which included passenger Tyrone “Tino” Galis, a 38-year-old resident of Riverside.

Galis had an active felony warrant for his arrest and was detained by officers. A search of the Mercedes SUV resulted in the seizure of a loaded revolver, a loaded sawed-off style shotgun, and over 100 grams of methamphetamine.

Officers from both the Perris and Menifee Special Enforcement Teams later searched Galis’ apartment within the 600 block of Central Avenue in the city of Riverside. The search resulted in the seizure of two additional firearms, body armor, ammunition, and drug sales.

Galis was later booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center for his outstanding warrant, as well as various drug and firearm violations.
