Riverside National Cemetery: Volunteers Needed to Place Over 200,000 Flags on Veterans Graves for Memorial Day

Volunteers are asked to Show Up on Saturday May 26th at 8 am

In observance of Memorial Day, thousands of tiny American flags will be placed on every Veterans gravesite in Riverside National Cemetery on Saturday May 26th. The flags will be retrieved on Tuesday, May 29th.

With over 200,000 graves, the “Flag for Every Hero” organization is looking for a little help. The 900-acre property is the fourth-largest national cemetery in the country. Volunteers are needed.

Volunteers are asked to show up on Saturday May 28th at 8 am to start putting the flags on plots in the cemetery. This year’s “Flag Walk” is estimated to last until 11am. There is also a need for volunteers on Tuesday, May 31st at the same time for removing the flags.

There is no need to sign up for this event in advance. Spread the word and just come out to show your support and remember our veterans who are interred at Riverside National Cemetery.
