Riverside: Pair Arrested after Car Jacking & Attempt to Steal Thousands of Dollars Worth of Medical Equipment


At round 3:40 am in the Mornig on Tuesday, June 5, 2018, officers responded to the 3300 block of Gibraltar Drive, in the Magnolia Center neighborhood, for a report of a stolen vehicle.

The victim left his car running as he got ready for work, and there was several thousand dollars worth of medical equipment inside the car. When the victim came out to leave, he noticed his car was now gone and immediately called police.

Officers located the stolen car a few blocks away, however, all the medical equipment was missing. But, they did locate two subjects in the area nearby at Ivy Street and Monterey Road, and found them in possession of the victim’s property.

Isaac Ortiz and Garrett Phillips, both 22-years-old and of Riverside, were arrested and later booked into jail for possession of stolen property and grand theft. Phillips was also arrested for probation violations. The stolen car and medical equipment were returned to the victim.
