Riverside: Police Ask Public’s Assistance to Identify Purse Snatcher who Stole from a 75 Year Old Victim

On Thursday, December 14, 2017, at approximately 1:25 p.m., the pictured suspect exited the Stater Bros., located at 4680 La Sierra Avenue, after stealing an elderly person’s purse.

A 75-year-old female victim was distracted by a 2nd female at the time, although it is unknown if this 2nd female was involved with the theft. This is when the pictured suspect was able to take the purse without being seen by the victim.

These images are from surveillance video and clearly show the suspect entering the grocery store without a purse and then leaving with the victim’s purse around her shoulder.

The purse contained the victim’s iPhone and other belongings. The victim went home, and with the help of a relative, located her phone at a residence where it was signalling from using the “Find my Phone” app feature.

This residence was located near La Sierra Avenue and Nebraska Avenue, within the La Sierra neighborhood of Riverside. The victim saw the female suspect leave the location, but unfortunately before RPD officers arrived, the iPhone was no longer providing its location.

The Riverside Police Department is seeking the public’s help in identifying this suspect before she victimizes more elderly. If you recognize the suspect, please DIRECTLY CONTACT Detective G. Anderson at (951) 353-7115 or ganders@riversideca.gov.
