Riverside: Three Arrested for June 25 Murder at the 76 Gas Station on Indiana Avenue

On Wednesday, October 11, 2017, Detectives from the Riverside Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Unit arrested three suspects for the murder of Gabriel “Gabby” Cruz, who was shot to death behind the 76 Gas station in the 7400 block of Indiana Avenue on Sunday, June 25, 2017.

Around 9:19 p.m. that night, the Riverside Police and Fire Dispatch Center received several calls regarding a shooting that just occurred behind the gas station. Officers and Paramedics arrived and located a Hispanic male adult on the east side of the business suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was transported by ambulance to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Detectives from the Robbery-Homicide Unit and Technicians from the Forensics Unit responded to assume the investigation, and were assisted by the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office and the Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner. During the course of this investigation, Detectives also received assistance from the California Department of Justice’s Special Operations Unit and Riverside Police Department’s METRO (SWAT) Team. Search warrants were issued and served at a residence in the Casa Blanca neighborhood of Riverside, as well as an apartment in Las Vegas, Nevada. Three firearms were recovered during the execution of these warrants.
Gabriel Ortega, 37-years-old, Jeannette Garcia, 28-years-old, and Vincent Aguilar, 37-years-old, all of Riverside, were arrested and booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center for murder, gang enhancement charges, and weapons violations.
