Riverside: Woman who Bought a Car with a Fraudulent Check Arrested after Trying to Scam Another Victim


On Wednesday morning, January 10, 2018, at about 9:46 a.m., officers responded to the 4900 block of La Sierra Avenue regarding a female subject using a fraudulent check to purchase merchandise.

The reporting party gave the officers a description of the female subject and the vehicle she was last seen driving. The officers located the car a short distance away on Magnolia Avenue.

A records check of the vehicle’s license plate showed it was stolen. The owner of the car responded and identified the female as the person who purchased the car with a check, which was later discovered to be fraudulent as well.

During a search of the vehicle, numerous items related to mail and identity theft were located and the suspect was taken into custody.

The suspect was identified as Olga Diaz, 39-years-old of Riverside. Diaz was arrested and booked into jail for being in possession of stolen property, identity theft, and the making of fraudulent checks.
