San Bernardino County Sheriffs Deputies arrested Marquel Velasquez, 25 years old, resident of Rancho Cucamonga for child abuse on Friday, May 24, 2019.
On Wednesday, May 22, Velasquez took the child to Loma Linda University Medical Center for an X-ray exam. During the medical examination, forensic pediatricians found numerous other injuries to the victim, many of them in different stages of healing.
All of the victim’s injuries were consistent with suspected child abuse. The victim is currently hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit.
Following an extensive investigation and collaboration with the Rancho Cucamonga Sheriff’s Station and Forensic Pediatricians from LLUMC, Velasquez was arrested on Friday, May 24, 2019. She was booked at Central Detention Center for Willful Cruelty to a Child and bail was set at $100,000.
