SoCal: Temecula Mom Arrested on Suspicion of Embezzling $14,000 from Imperial Beach Charter School PTA

A former PTA member of a South Bay parent-teacher association was arrested Wednesday by San Diego County Sheriff’s Deputies on suspicion of embezzling around $14,000 from the organization.

Kaitlyn Faith Birchman 30, was the former president of the Imperial Beach Charter School PTA. She was taken into custody Wednesday morning at her Temecula home and booked into jail in the Riverside area, then released on bond.

Birchman was voted off the PTA in March, a few months after other board members began noticing that funds had mysteriously gone missing. The alleged thefts occurred over a roughly 12 month period and that the suspect “cooperated with the investigators and spoke to them about the alleged embezzlement.”

Birchman’s children were students of the charter school at the time.

The case will be handled in San Diego County.
