Rouse will Take Over & Build the Brand New Warrior Woman’s Basketball Program
Kyle Rouse has been named the Head Coach of Westcliff University’s Woman’s Basketball Program. Rouse served as the coach of Temecula Valley High School last season and led the Golden Bears to an impressive 16-12 season. Temecula had finished 8-15 prior to his arrival the year before.
“I am extremely excited to have Coach Kyle Rouse join the Westcliff Athletics Family. Kyle is a young dynamic talented coach, who is eager to make a positive impact on our Women’s Basketball program” said Westcliff University’s Athletic Director Shawn Harris. “We are committed to excellence at Westcliff, and I have personally challenged all of my coaches to chase greatness daily; coach Rouse will be a Integral part of this process, and we look forward towards his future success as a Westcliff Warrior”.
Rouse started his coaching career at Murrieta Mesa, where he compiled a record of 54-53 over four seasons. He moved to Temecula Valley last season and turned the Girls Basketball program around as the Golden Bears improved to 16-12.
“ This has been my dream since I started coaching…to be at this level and have my “job” as a basketball coach” said Rouse. It’s definitely not a job, it’s a passion. I realize that this is a big step and opportunity and there will be a huge learning curve”.
“One of my mentors, Bill Bree, our retired athletic director from Mesa always said to make sure you are a lifelong learner and live by Coach Wooden’s model of “It’s what you learn after you think you know it all that counts”. Basically to never stop evolving and never stop bettering yourself. My plan is to not waste this opportunity and to hopefully build this new athletic program at Westcliff to greatness”.
Westcliff University was established in 1993. The university’s main mission is to empower, educate and inspire certificate, undergraduate and graduate students by challenging and testing their excellence via high-quality, innovative, and ground-breaking on-campus and distance programs.
The Basketball program is in it’s second year and Westcliff University is aggressively expanding it’s Athletic Program.
