Founder and President Charity Prestifilippo and Director of Operations Alison Wooten traveled to Sacramento and joined one hundred other nonprofit leaders that were honored by their state senators and assembly members.

Charity for Charity is a local wish fulfilling organization, fulfilling wishes to individuals with life threatening illness or traumatic injury.

The organization’s mission is to make a significant difference in the lives of others in the community and inspire others to accomplish incredible things. Charity for Charity selects 3 main beneficiaries per year to fulfill wishes for.

They select an adult, a young adult and a child with either a life threatening illness or traumatic injury. They surprise the recipients with their wishes at their big event, Stars of the Valley.

We had the most incredible honor, being acknowledged by our 45th District Assemblymember, Marie Waldron, as charity of the year of California: said Charity Prestifilippo. “Mrs. Waldron treated us royally, spending the day with us, showing us around the capital, taking photos with us and joining us for a luncheon. The day on Capital Hill in Sacramento was a day we will never forget”.

When you work with your heart, you don’t seek to be acknowledged, you just love what you do. When you are recognized and honored… it’s a Cherry on Top”.

Nonprofits make California communities stronger, yet we’re often so busy that we don’t toot our own horns about the work we’re doing,” explains Jan Masaoka, CEO of the California Association of Nonprofits (CalNonprofits).

California Nonprofits Day is an opportunity for our elected officials to recognize the good work they see nonprofits doing in their districts, and it also demonstrates the larger collective impact of nonprofits throughout California.”
