The California Highway Patrol would like to remind parents and caregivers that an unrestrained child in a car is at significant risk of injury or death in the event of a traffic collision. Protect your children by using age appropriate passenger restraint devises.
All children 8 years or younger must be properly restrained in an appropriate child safety seat and in the back seat of a vehicle. Children under the age of 2 must ride in a rear-facing, age appropriate child safety seat in the rear seat. Your child’s life depends on that car seat.
Make sure it is properly installed and learn how to properly install your child safety seat from one of CHP’s specially trained Safety Seat Technicians.
Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
