This Year’s Festival is from Friday May 20th thru Sunday the 23ed
As the sun sets beyond the vines of Southern California Wine Country, something magical occurs at the Temecula Valley Balloon & Wine Festival. Families and friends gather in a circle at the Wine Garden Sage, waiting as balloonists stretch out the canopies of their hot air balloons, fill them with air, and simultaneously ignite the burners that turn cool air to warm. It is then, that the hot air balloons illuminate against the darkened sky.
The Festival presents colorful spectacular both Friday and Saturday nights, May 20 and 21. It is this iridescent balloon glow that the crowd came to witness. They chant and clap as the hot air balloons then perform the dance that can only be accomplished when the pilots synchronize their “burns” and glow to the beat of music chosen for the night.
This year’s glow will feature popular soundtracks from “Close Encounters,” “Star Wars,” and “2001 Space Odyssey.” Carrying the theme a step further, David Bowie’s “Space Oddity” (Major Tom) and “Starman,” will also be part of the show.
Expect to see costumed characters Friday evening – Storm Troopers, Darth Vadars, Ewoks, Aliens, Klingons and Ferengis, and maybe even Yoda. The Festival, in partnership with iHeart Radio Temecula, is staging a Cosplay with up to 200 participants.
Cosplay characters sign up in advance, through Q103.3 and Radio 94.5 websites to receive admission. For more information visit their websites at: http://q1033.iheart.com and http://radio945fm.iheart.com.
The evening balloon glow is included in Festival general admission. Pre-registered Cosplay Characters will be admitted free with i-Heart vouchers and proper I.D. Only 200 characters will be admitted and no one will be admitted in costume without pre-registration and valid vouchers.
To carry the theme further, Gears to Robots, an electronic/robot academy from Temecula, will have an interactive exhibit of robots near the Kids Faire inside the Festival.
