Temecula: Gladys Knight “The Empress of Soul” Comes to the Pechanga Theater on Sunday, March 3

Pechanga proudly presents Gladys Knight, the two time Grammy Award-winning singer on Sunday, March 3 at 7 p.m. in the Pechanga Theater at Pechanga Resort Casino.

The great ones endure, and Gladys Knight has long been one of the greatest. Very few singers over the last sixty years have matched her unassailable artistry. This seven-time Grammy winner has enjoyed #1 hits in Pop, Gospel, R&B and Adult Contemporary, and has triumphed in film, television and live performance.

Knight’s devoted fans have continued to flock to her national and international stages, singing along to her classics and current songs such as her 2014 dance single, “Just A Little.” The song marked Knight’s first mainstream dance single in nearly twenty years.

Knight, who is a two-time Grammy winner in the gospel category, yet again embraced her gospel roots, releasing her inspirational album “Where My Heart Belongs”, in September 2014. The album was a major success and won an NAACP Image Award for “Outstanding Gospel Album.”

All told, Knight has recorded more than 38 albums over the years, including four solo albums during the past decade: “Good Woman” (1991); “Just for You” (1994); the inspirational “Many Different Roads” (1999); and “At Last” (2001). “At Last” showed the world that she still has what it takes to record a hit album, employing the talents of contemporary producers like Randy Jackson, Gary Brown and James D.C. Williams III, Jon John, Jamey Jaz, Keith Thomas, Tom Dowd and Tiger Roberts.

Knight has continued to spread her acting wings, making a guest star appearance on the 2018 Thanksgiving episode of CBS network’s Hawaii Five-O. She also made an appearance in the FOX hit show, Star and in the film Almost Christmas in 2016, both which were produced and directed by Lee Daniels.

Her involvement in other creative undertakings, business ventures and humanitarian activities has been extensive, and has brought her honors from industry and community alike. In 2015, A portion of Atlanta’s State Route 9 from Peachtree Street to 14th Street was officially named Gladys Knight Highway.

Continuing her community efforts, Knight and her husband, William McDowell, founded the Reynolds High School Community Foundation in 2017 to benefit the renovating of the former high school into a community center for the Canton, NC community. “This won’t be just a building; it will be a centerpiece for change in Canton. It will bring the community new life and renewed vitalization.”

Now on sale, tickets start at $69 and can be purchased at the Pechanga Box Office, by calling (888) 810-8871 or online at Pechanga.com.
