On Thursday, February 23, 2017, officers assigned to the Temecula Police Department’s Problem Oriented Policing (POP) team were patrolling the area of Moreno Rd. and Mercedes Rd. They conducted an occupied vehicle check of a green four-door Honda Accord.
A male adult, later identified as Abdiel Lopez (26 years old of Oceanside) was contacted. During the contact, Lopez was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and a subsequent search of the vehicle revealed, numerous social security cards, identification cards, and credit cards belonging to victims of thefts. A bag containing burglary tools and numerous pieces of mail from locations in San Diego County and Temecula were also located inside the vehicle. Lopez was arrested and later booked into the Southwest Detention Center.
Officers assigned to the POP team are following up with the identified victims of mail theft in San Diego County and Temecula. The Temecula Police Department is dedicated to maintaining a high quality of life and encourages citizens to report any suspicious activity they observe.
