Temecula: Police Investigating the Death of One Man, Hospitalization of Another Friday Morning

On Friday, November 2, 2018, at approximately 8:15am, officers from the Temecula Police Department responded to an assault at a residence on the 32000 block of Merlot Court, in Temecula. The caller advised Sheriff’s Dispatch he had been assaulted by an adult male family member who was still inside the residence.

Upon their arrival, officers found the one adult male victim lying on the driveway of the residence with serious injuries. While waiting for paramedics to arrive, the suspect stopped breathing and officers began life saving measures to resuscitate him. Efforts by officers and by paramedics to revive the suspect were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The officers also located the man who called police for assistance inside the residence with a serious injury. The victim in this case was transported to an area hospital where he is receiving treatment and is expected to survive.

Based on the presence of the officers during the suspect’s death, investigators from the Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit responded to the scene and assumed the investigation, which is still ongoing.
