Temecula: Top Chefs to Compete for a Great Cause in the 11th Annual So-Cal Chef’s Open


Come Out & Taste the Best the Valley has to Offer on Monday, August 27th at Pechanga Resort & Casino

Culinary experts and the local press were all smiles at the 11th Annual So-Cal Chef Open Press Conference. The event was held at the beautiful Frazelli Cellars in Temecula Wednesday.

Chefs from across Southern California will gather at Pechanga Resort & Casino on Monday, August 27th to compete in the 11th Annual So-Cal Chef Open event. The competition benefits the efforts of Oak Grove Center for Education, Treatment & the Arts for at risk children.

The Chefs will put on their thinking caps to create tantalizing Tapas for you to sample. At stake is the the Pinnacle Top Chef and the Peoples Choice Prize Awards and the bragging rights to being crowned the Top Chef in the Valley. There are 19 Chefs competing this year.

The Pinnacle Top Chef winner will be selected by a panel of Chefs and food experts who will judge for taste, creativity and presentation. The Peoples Choice Prize Award is selected by the attendees who will cast their votes for their favorite Chef and their creation.

Judging in this year’s event are Master Chef Ferdinand Metz, Leoness Cellars Executive Chef Daragh Matheson, Europa Village Chef Dean Thomas, Dining Out San Diego Publisher Josh Kopelman, 2017 Winner Chef Martin Venegas, 2016 Winner Chef Ronnel Capacia and Chef Robin McCoy.

The Chefs who are competing this year are some of the most creative in the Temecula Valley. They are; Dong Ho of Bamboo House, Mandy Ramos of Shamrock Irish Pub and Eatery. Anthony Bartallota of Fazeli Cellars Winery, Kennith Danko of Devilicious and Jennifer Silva of Crab Boil catering.

Leone d’Arcangelo of Fresco Grillis also competing, as well as Josh Diamond of Meritage at Callaway, Matthew Steffen of Cork Fire Kitchen, Armondo Cota of Avensole Winery, Daniel Johnson from the Naughty Pig Butchery, Camille Alexander of LeRoche Catering and J Rivas from Dinner by JR.

James Weir of Ballast Point, Luis Ortega of Burgers & Beer, Martin Corso of the Chef’s Grill, Chef Oscar from the Mill, Robert Haney from Le Grange,Steven Moore of the Trendy Chef and Vlada Vladic from Vlada’s Seeds of Life will be competing.

The competition begins at 5pm on August 27th. Bon Appetite…let the Feasting and fun begin!
